'Anatole' is a historical short film about France’s most infamous executioner, Anatole Deibler (1863-1939), who, during his fifty-year career executed almost four hundred people. Director Elbe Stevens shows a day in the life of Deibler, a man of few words who pays little heed to the excited masses, cleans up the remains of the drama in an almost loving way and proves to have an unexpectedly soft-hearted side.
‘Anatole’ premiered at the Netherlands Film Festival in September 2011.
Derek de Lint plays Anatole Deibler. Planet X FX corrected the elements that did not fit into the historical period and added matte extensions.
